Advanced Building Contractors (ABC Ltd) has today announced changes to its leadership team to propel continued growth.

With the UK construction sector growing at the fastest rate for two years in May, strong demand for its services, in particular industrial refurbishment and shopping centre tenancies has resulted in a record-breaking year end, with turnover up 15% on 2023. The company, which provides a full range of construction services across Scotland and the North of England for predominantly blue-chip companies in a range of sectors is investing in its future with a range of promotions.

After an incredible 25 years at the helm since he first established the business in 1999, Gavin Cattanach will take a step back from operational management, and move to a new role as Chair. Current Director, Fraser Cattanach, who has been with the company for over 13 years, will take over from Gavin and become Managing Director.

This strategic development marks a natural progression for both Gavin and Fraser, with the latter poised to lead the company having spearheaded growth and modernisation plans for ABC Ltd for a number of years.

Other management changes include Fraser Campbell, who has been with the company since 2018, and leads the surveying and financial project management, becoming Director of Surveying.Andrew Mason, who has made a huge impact in business development in the two years he has been in the estimating team, has also been promoted from Senior Estimator to Director of Estimating, while senior contracts manager Iain Kay, will move up to Operations Director.  Iain has worked for ABC Ltd for nearly 15 years, first as a joiner, before progressing up the ranks. With extensive knowledge of project management, he will ensure that projects are delivered to a high standard.

Fraser Cattanach, now Managing Director of ABC Ltd, said: “As a proud family firm, we can’t thank Gavin enough for his dedicated stewardship and contribution to ABC Ltd over the past 25 years. During this time, the company has grown from humble beginnings to where it is today, and he has been instrumental in making that happen.

“I have fond memories of visiting our offices from a very young age, and it is a special moment as we look towards our ambitious plans for the future. These leadership changes are a natural step for us as we move into the next exciting phase for ABC Ltd.  Our new leadership team will position us strongly as we work together to ensure we can maintain a high standard of work for our clients and build on what has been a record-breaking year.”

Gavin added: “It’s been an incredible journey since I first set up ABC Ltd over two decades ago, particularly the growth we have experienced within that time. I am very proud of our achievements and confident that the future holds even more exciting opportunities for the business.

“I am looking forward to supporting the team from my new role as Chairman, and I know that the day to day running of ABC Ltd is in the best possible hands with Fraser and the leadership team. Each member of the team makes the company what it is today, and I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all. I look forward to continuing to work closely with and supporting the leadership team in my new role, as ABC Ltd continues to go from strength to strength.”
