WITH the announcement today of the new Labour government, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has commented on the news of Labour’s victory.

ACCA is a globally recognised professional accountancy body providing qualifications and advancing standards in accountancy worldwide.

ACCA’s Strategic Engagement Lead for Scotland, Susan Love said:

“Key to getting the UK economy firing on all cylinders is restoring trust and transparency in our business ecosystem so we’d urge the new government to accelerate long-awaited reforms to the audit regime and reverse the collapse in HMRC service levels.

“For Scotland’s economy to thrive, many in the business community will be hoping to see a new era of Scottish and UK governments working effectively together to realise economic opportunities including planning for net zero, improving our infrastructure and investing in our people.”
