Aberdeen’s oldest spirit business, The House of Botanicals, is seeking to raise £40,000 (or more) through a reward-based crowdfunding initiative.

This funding will support the ongoing development of their production facility, reintroduce their Navy Strength ABZ Dry Gin for the Tall Ships Races in July, and launch their long-awaited vermouth.

Founded in 2009 and located in Aberdeen, North East Scotland, The House of Botanicals is a fully independent and family-owned enterprise run by husband and wife team Adam and Steffie Elan-Elmegirab.

As the UK’s oldest bartender-owned spirit brand, they offer an alternative to traditional distilleries by producing a world-class range of spirits, including The House of Botanicals Gins, Dr. Adam’s Cocktail Bitters, and the Italian-inspired Pietro Nicola Aperitivi & Digestivo.

While these categories may seem distinct, they coalesce in iconic cocktails such as the Negroni, Dry Martini, and their favourite, the Martinez. Each category stands alone as well.

Currently situated in the historic railway arches on Palmerston Road in the heart of Aberdeen, their 2,500 sq ft unit encompasses a production area, office, tasting room, and shop.

This space frequently hosts various events including Gin Tours & Tastings, Cocktail Experiences, Art of the Aperitivo sessions, and themed Discovery Sessions.

Their products are exported globally to countries such as Italy, France, Taiwan, the Netherlands, and the United States.

The offerings from The House of Botanicals draw inspiration from the founder’s Scottish, North African, and Italian heritage.

The business maintains a planet-positive approach with a hyper fair-trade outlook by exclusively using natural and seasonal botanicals and sourcing directly from farmers whenever possible.

In 2024, they managed to divert less than one full black bag to landfill and were previously certified as a B Corp; at that time, they ranked as the fourth spirit brand in the UK and eighth worldwide.

Launched via their website in April 2023, The House of Botanicals Member’s Club is a reward-based crowdfunding initiative that provides a unique opportunity for supporters to engage with the brand’s future while being rewarded for their loyalty.

For this crowdfunding effort, matched rewards are also available for all contributions below the Member’s Club threshold of £100.
