SCOTTISH tourism businesses can sign-up to a free event to learn about how to make the most out of online booking and resources, as part of Scotland’s tourism recovery.

Ctrl+Alt+Succeed Scotland, taking place tomorrow on 23 November, is the latest in VisitScotland’s programme of events supporting visitor attractions, tour companies and activity providers to help them to restart and recover.

Insights show that nine in ten visitors research their trip online – yet, only around 60% of visitor attractions surveyed* by the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions in April have either full or partial online booking capabilities.

Attendees to Ctrl+Alt+Succeed Scotland will hear presentations from industry specialists and have the opportunity to meet face to face with  some of the world’s best-known online booking system suppliers, technology specialists and online travel agents, including TripAdvisor, Arival, GetYourGuide, FareHarbor, DigiTickets and Viator.

The one-day online event will be a mixture of one-to-one pre-scheduled appointments, online presentations, and keynote sessions.

Speakers include: VisitScotland CEO, Malcolm Roughead; Rob Dickson, Director of Industry and Destination Development at VisitScotland; Douglas Quinby, Co-Founder and Chief Executive of Arival; and Justin Reid, Director of Sales EMEA at TripAdvisor.

Rob Dickson, Director of Industry and Destination Development at VisitScotland, said: “Online booking and accessibility is an essential component of the tourism experience and has been even more important in the past year as we negotiate the pandemic. Having a firm grasp of new technology and being able to use it to its full potential can save precious time, increase efficiency and, all importantly, grow revenue.”

The first Ctrl+Alt+Succeed Scotland event took place in Perth in November 2019 and saw around 150 Scottish tourism businesses from across the country come together to develop their digital skills. This year’s event will be held exclusively online.
